It is no secret that since 2020, it has been a tough year for our residents and staff. We have spent countless hours cleaning, screening, and delivering meals to keep everyone safe. Virtual visits with families and friends have been commonplace. I am extremely proud of our COVID free status in the building.
Finally, the long-awaited vaccine has arrived. Village Green has partnered with CVS pharmacy to get all of our staff and residents vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and our clinics are almost complete. Despite the tough year, It is an exciting time of gratitude and optimism. We as a community are doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Our CVS Pharmacy partners have been helpful and extremely knowledgeable as we tackle everyone’s curiosity and concerns – we deeply appreciate their dedication and efficiency. One pharmacist even completed a couple of in-room visits to administer the injections.
One of our residents, Bob, who is 101 years old 🎉, stated that he has been waiting for this day since the pandemic began. He expressed relief as he rolled up his sleeve.
Now that this first round is done, we are in the process of working and anticipating the need for an ongoing vaccine program to carry on this work that we’ve begun. It is exciting to see more vaccines become available as time goes on and to breathe that same sigh of relief as Bob.
Even though we have been finishing up our vaccine rounds, we still remain diligent with masking, social distancing, and screening. However, we cannot help but feel that this is the start of the sun coming up over the horizon. We will soon be on our way to a better day when we can hug our family and enjoy in-person visits with our friends.
I want to say a huge thanks to CVS Pharmacy, our staff and our residents for helping to make this possible. I am so proud of all of everyone who rolled up their sleeves to make Village Green a safe place to live.
